Examples of behavioural & situational questions:

• Provide an example of when you have been extremely busy and had to multi-task to complete the work - how did you manage your time and priorities?
• If you have two urgent deadlines at the same time, from two different leaders - how would you handle this?
• If you are unable to solve a problem, what process would you go through to find a solution?

4. QUESTIONS TO ASK
Ask engaging questions throughout the interview to make it a two-way discussion:
1. What criteria will you use to compare me to other candidates you are interviewing?
2. What attributes do your top-performing contractors, who are doing this role, bring?
3. What challenges will I face in the first 3 months?
4. How will my performance be measured?
5. What are the biggest opportunities for the company today?
6. Are there any other details about my experience or about my enthusiasm for this role that we haven’t discussed yet?
At the end of the interview, they will likely ask “Do you have any questions?”
1. What hesitations or concerns do you have moving forward with my candidacy?
2. What are the next steps? Where are you in the interview process and when will there be a decision made by?
5. ADDITIONAL SUGGESTIONS
Research the company:
• Review company news
• Read executive statements
• Ask friends and former colleagues about the company
• Look at their website to know why you’re interested in the company
• Check out the LinkedIn profile of the Hiring Manager
Meeting in-person? Look the part & dress for success:
• Dress professionally – wear neutral colours (Black/Grey/White/Dark Blue)
• No strong scents!
• Keep your resume in front of you, so you can easily refer to it, if needed.
• Have a pen and paper handy for note taking.
• Do not bring up compensation - they will start that piece, if necessary.
• Demonstrate genuine interest - they will want to see that you truly want the job.
• Eye contact - during each question, make eye contact with ALL interviewers.
• Take a moment to collect your thoughts after a question has been asked – don’t be afraid of the silence.
• If you do not understand the question, or need further clarification – just ask!
Meeting On Video? Look the part, at least from waist up:
• Test your video and microphone before hand, make sure it works.
• Be sure your wifi network connection is strong enough to handle a video call.
• Clear your background of any distracting visuals, a blank/empty background is best.
• Close the door, make sure there is no background noise.
• Have a glass of water handy.
